It’s not easy to introduce this wonderful software as it has a lot of functionalities. Since I’m more familiar with the Cost Control package, I will start with it. I started using it a couple of years ago and never realized the potential it has. It is one of the best tools to control huge (and medium size too) projects. If the customization is done properly it can suit any kind of work. I’m currently using it for the Metro of Riyadh, in Saudi Arabia. It is the most expensive project awarded to a spanish company outside its frontiers.
The aim of Unifier here is to avoid overcost and know where is every single dollar spent. If you are into Unifier vocab, we have an enormous cost sheet and more than 50 BPs to trace all the different items that have appeared during the budgeting, planning and execution phases (and some more will appear before the end of it for sure).
Primavera Unifier has to improve in some aspects such as its integration with Primavera P6, which has become an international planning standard. However, manual integrations using webservices are widely suported. In this blog I will post different tutorials about Unifier and my experience in Saudi Arabia.
